had a great day at church...take a listen to Pastor Bob's message...

when we got home from church, 2 of our grandkids went to
check out the Bees....
first....we collected PINE needles for the smoker that we will be using to
subdue the Bees...then Gabby & Jacob got suited up..... Ross
is in the greenhouse behind them getting the smoker to work.

once the outer lid is removed ....you use the smoker to calm them down...
the main goal for today was to make sure that the Queen Bee had been released from
her box.....and in both hives...there was success!!!! I wanted to pull one of the
frames out to see if they were already working hard...and indeed they were....also
notice that I have just the mask and some gloves on today.....Ross didn't have any
bee protection on and no stings.....actually is is quite relaxing to step back and watch them!
here is a closer view..... now we wait a week ....at the next check we will
make sure that the Queen has started to lay eggs.
