May 8, 2012

a few years ago we bought an old granary that was located about 1/3 mile down the road from us ....originally owned by A.W.Grover.....and then by the Plumb family.....last year about this time
we moved it up the road into our field in the back......very cool watching it roll up the street.

We have decided that in honor of my brother Mike (who was really excited about it and helped build the foundation when his family and my brother Tim's family were up for a visit this past june) we will be calling this building BIG MIKES BUNKHOUSE......Mike did EVERYTHING big....his smile, hugs, love, faith, joy, work and generosity.

Here it is turning into the driveway

here it is going past the old chicken coop

Inside the front door looking to the left...
this is where the pot belly stove will go...
notice the steps....this is where the bedroom area will be

In the back room looking toward the front door...
this will be the kitchen area and a place for a table.

this is stenciled on the back of the front door...
we found writing all over the inside from the 1890's

we plan to put a wrap around porch on it and maybe cut
another door in below where the ladder is to bring in firewood

google this.....very interesting....
found this on one of the walls inside

and of course you can't do anything on the farm without an animal being involved.....Ross and I are taking out this wall in the bunkhouse and we look up ....a mouse (who has a little one attached to a teet) is climbing out of this trough that she has turned into her home....

the baby lands in this crevice....so Ross picked it up and put it back in the nest

never a dull moment......glad the camera was handy.

Pleasant Dreams!!!
