August 17, 2012

today is our nephew Brandon's 23rd Birthday...hope you had a GREAT day sweetheart!!!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
made a great recipe out of our "Old Fashioned Bread Recipes" book from Bear Wallow Books...
this one is worth googling...lots of easy bread recipes.
Dutch Oven Bread :
1/2 cup warm water
6 3/4 tsp yeast
1/4 cup sugar
1Tbsp salt
8 cups flour
2 1/2 cups water
in a small bowl (I use a glass measuring cup) put the water, sugar and yeast in....
stir and let it sit for 15 minutes....it will look like this....
in the kitchen aid....put in the salt and flour....mix together...
add the water and your yeast mixture until the dough leaves the sides..
knead for about 3 minutes.....put in a greased bowl and let it double in size...
(this takes about an hour)
grease your 12 x 4 inch dutch oven and the lid, punch down your risen dough and
place into the dutch oven to rise again...it will actually raise the heavy lid...
(this takes about an hour again)
place, with the lid on, in a preheated oven at 350 degrees for 1 hour....
then take the lid off and bake for 10 more minutes...
brush milk on top....turn onto wire rack...
you can't beat how simple it is....water, yeast, salt, sugar & flour...
this was the first bread recipe I ever made about 5 years ago,
and it is Ross' favorite bread!!!
