~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
made a new recipe for dinner.....called Grandma's Pot Pie....
Grandma's Pot Pie: got it from a Taste of Home magazine.....changed it quite a bit....
2 lbs ground beef
1 1/2 tsp onion powder
1/2 tsp salt
brown the ground beef....drain......add the onion powder and salt....stir....then place in a 9 x 13 greased casserole dish
1 1/2 cup of cubed potatoes
1 cup peas
1 cup carrots
1 cup corn
place the potatoes and veggies on top of hamburger
1/3 cup butter
1/3 cup flour
16 oz beef broth
melt butter in a pan.....add the flour....stir in the beef broth....bring this to a boil until thick....pour this over the veggies and meat.
Pot Pie CRUST:
2 cups flour
1 Tbsp baking powder
1 tsp salt
1/4 cup shortening
3/4 cup milk
add all the dry ingredients into a bowl.....use your pastry knife to blend in the shortening....add the milk a bit at time and stir together until the flour comes off the side of the bowl...form your dough and place on a floured work area.....roll it out a bit bigger than 13 x 9 and place right on top of the veggies......cut a bunch of slits on the top.....and brush with butter.  Heat your oven to 350 degrees for 55 minutes. I brushed it with butter again when it had about 5 minutes left.
it tasted wonderful....however...next time I think I will double the gravy portion of the recipe.....put half of it over the veggies/meat and save the rest to put over the top when it is served.
Pleasant Dreams!!!
